Derek DelGaudio’s In & Of Itself tells the story of a man fighting to see through the illusion of his own identity, only to discover that identity itself is an illusion. An intimate and powerful exploration of what it means to be and be seen, the film chronicles Derek DelGaudio’s attempt to answer one deceptively simple question, “Who am I?” His personal journey expands to a collective experience that forces us to confront the boundaries of our own identities.
Hulu invites users into Derek DelGaudio’s world virtually to explore their understanding of self-identity. At the beginning of every show, audience members explore a vast wall of ‘I AM’ cards to find one that they resonate with. Throughout his show, Derek pulls from the cards to engage with members of the audience. Finding your ‘I AM’ is not merely selecting a label for a show, but it is act of introspection to communicate to the world who you are and how you wish to be seen. Through a microsite experience, users are to search the ‘I AM’ wall for a card that most reflects their desired identity and been seen by sharing on social.

Empowering users through dynamic sharing.

Once users found an identity they resonated with, they were able to share their 'I AM' card on social media and invite friends to find their identity. For platforms that allowed for integrated post copy, pre-populated metadata provided users with an inspiration quote from Derek himself.
